Fight & Intimacy Director

Mercedes Davy

Mercedes Davy is an award-winning, internationally trained Fight Director and Intimacy Coordinator represented by da Costa Talent. She is a graduate of Randolph College for the Performing Arts, and has trained at Rapier Wit up to Intermediate Level,
as well as with the New Zealand Stage and Screen Combat School.
She has recently completed her training with the IDC (Intimacy Directors and Coordinators) and has her Mental Health First Aide Certification among other qualifications.

Mercedes Davy is an award-winning, internationally trained Fight and Certified Intimacy Director represented by da Costa Talent. She is an MFA student at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland in Arts Leadership and Fundraising, and is a 2019 graduate of Randolph College for the Performing Arts. Mercedes' training credits include Canada, New Zealand, Scotland, and the U.S.A. Her work and years of training now come together to create The Gentle Blade, a place of invitational courage and curiosity.

Fight Direction

Mercedes is an award winning, internationally trained Fight Director. Her credits include Professional Companies (Mansfield Productions) with ‘Peter Pan, the British Musical’,  as well as many Ontario Community Theatre Companies including Scarborough Players, Peterborough Theatre Guild, Durham Shoestring Performers,  and Student Productions of ‘The Oresteia’, and ‘City of Angels’ through Randolph College. She has also worked on sets and Theatre Productions in New Zealand, and for the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland.

Mercedes is an IDC Certified Intimacy Director based in Toronto, Canada. Her specialty in choreographing and navigating scenes of Violence, has led her to work on projects such as Thea Award Winning, 'Les Liaisons Dangereuses' (Scarborough Players), 291 (Peterborough Theatre Guild), and more. Mercedes welcomes any opportunity to work with challenging and complex subjects of violence and intimacy.

Intimacy Direction

For Intimacy Direction, Mercedes has had her debut as lead Intimacy Coordinator with another Scarborough Players production of ‘Les Liaisons Dangereuses’ Directed by Shiela Gatensby and been Assistant Intimacy Director on several other productions. Currently, Mercedes is building a professional platform ‘The Gentle Blade Fight and Intimacy Direction’ to better reflect the balance of Fight and Intimacy Direction
that she brings to the Theatre and Film scene.

Authentic and Consent Forward

The Gentle Blade approaches Fight and Intimacy Direction with courage, and curiosity. Emphasizing guided storytelling, while implementing safe and trauma-informed practices, alongside nearly ten years of professional experience on stage and screen. The Gentle Blade is a space where safety, storytelling, and adventure come together.
